Digital Echoes Symposium Series

For the last two years I have been a co-organiser of the Digital Echoes Symposium Series, held at Coventry University Centre for Dance Research (C-DaRE).  All photography for event was taken by Ko Zin Photography. https://www.facebook.com/kozinphotography/

2015: Digital Echoes Symposium 2015: Intangible and Performance-Based Cultural Heritage. Digital Echoes 2015 brought together artists, researchers and practitioners interested in exploring how digital environments intervene in the creation, documentation, circulation and reception of culture. A book is in progress. The event was co-organised with Prof. Sarah Whatley http://www.coventry.ac.uk/research/research-directories/researchers/professor-sarah-whatley/ and Dr. Amalia Sabiescu.

2016: For the 6th edition of the Digital Echoes Symposium, “(Re) Collecting the Past: (Re)Making the future”, we focused on participation as one of the most prominent legacies of the digital, in particular how it invokes processes of collectivity, democratisation and decentring. We considered participation as a process, a framework for access and production, but also increasingly becoming a philosophy and a culture. In response to this theme, we invited researchers and practitioners in dance, the arts and the humanities, to reflect on practices of collecting, archiving and safekeeping, how these traces are being used to configure new ways of imagining futures, and how such practices highlight the legacy of the digital on humanistic and artistic disciplines. The event was co-organsied  with Prof. Sarah Whatley, Dr. Hetty Blades and PhD candidate Rebecca Stancliffe.
