Documentary “Behind the Flamenco Dress”

“Behind the Flamenco Dress: an interview with Adela Olmos” is a 32 minute documentary I filmed and edited with the Flamenco dressmaker based in London. I met Adela years ago at workshop in London,UK. She had a stand selling her beautiful dresses and other Flamenco items. After years of attending such events and having short conversations here and there, I was intrigued and decided to ask if I could come to her studio and film and capture her oral history. She agreed and “Behind the Flamenco Dress: an interview with Adela Olmos” was born.

The film captures her trajectory as a non-Spaniard working in the Spanish Flamenco world and her own process of creating and making Flamenco dresses. She delves into what its like to work in Jerez and in London and looks back at her time in the field and recounts seeing the late Paco de Lucia play. A moving documentary that makes you smile and brings the colourful world of Flamenco dresses to a wider audience.
